Did you ever hear the term “shotgun birthday”.
I still laugh when I know about the mornings when a couple would end up in a “situation” plus he vision of the dad kneeling there with a shotgun in his hand in case the groom tried to escape.
As ridiculous as it sounds, this did happen back in the afternoon. My birthday was not that type of birthday however it did happen really rapidly. You see, I married my husband just before he was set to derue for a year to the war zone. My associate and I had been planning a birthday for a year out, however when he got orders, my associate and I decided not to wait any longer, then the only thing I had was a dress, plus even that hadn’t been altered yet. My associate and I called around for a place to hold the reception only to find that they were all booked. It was mid Summer so I at least wanted a place with air conditioner. There were places that rented out barns, tents, plus picnic areas despite the fact that I knew that they would be really uncomfortable for both the birthday party plus the guests. In desperation, I started calling everything from schools to churches trying to find somewhere that had an Heating plus Air Conditioning system that worked. I finally found a fire hall one city over that not only had a room large enough to hold everyone however it was air conditioned. This was not my ideal setting for my reception however at that point my associate and I didn’t have time to be picky. My associate and I decorated it as best my associate and I could plus the afternoon turned out perfect. The main thing was, I was now married to my best friend, even I had to say goodbye to him for the next year.
