I have concerned for years about my adolescents & how they would make it in today’s economy, but our oldest, my daughter, regularly seemed to know what she wanted in life. She was entirely good when it came ot working with adolescents so it was no surprise when she became a teacher. Our son, on the other hand, just didn’t seem motivated by much. He only wanted to lay in his room & play video games or go online, and if something wasn’t technology related he just wasn’t interested. He somehow made it through high university & then he was trying to find a job that would interest him & make him enough currency to live comfortably on his own. My partner offered to take him to a big job honorabledowntown one afternoon & I hoped that something would spark his interest. College was the last thing on his mind so he was looking for something more hands on. I knew that the local trade university offered adult classes in fields like, electronics, plumbing, & even auto mechanics. They were gone for hours & when they finally returned our son was unquestionably excited. He now wants to become a HVAC repair worker & is looking into a trade university to get his certification. He will be able to have a job that he likes & get paid well to do it also.
