It isn’t often that my adult children come and spend the day with me.
- I would love to have them do so more often but with jobs and kids of their own they have very hectic schedules.
Last Sunday when my son said he was coming over I was thrilled, but then I worried because he never calls first. He said he wanted to make sure that both his dad and I were going to be home, okay, now I was really worried. We waited nervously for him to arrive and when he did I was relieved to see that he was in good health. He quickly told us that he had wanted us both home because he had a big surprise for us. He then proceeded to tell us how grateful he was that we had always supported him no matter what and that he had been looking for a way to repay us for everything. We told him that he was not obligated to do so, but, he and his wife had discussed it and wanted to do this thing for us. He then proceeded to tell us that a brand new HVAC system was going to be installed next week and that we would have a state of the art system instead of the one that failed on us all the time. It would save money on our energy cost too and we could even program it remotely if we wanted to. I can’t say that I am so thrilled with all of the high tech features but it will be nice to save on the gas bill and not worry that the system will break down when we need it most.
