AC in a different country

I found this to be challenging throughout my travels, then many natives have never even heard of an AC, let alone had one in their homes

A year ago, I decided to take a backpacking trip abroad, and the climate of the region I traveled to was similar to where I live in the US; Humidity in addition to high uneven temperatures did not worry me as I was used to such conditions where I live now. One thing I was not prepared for was the lack of air conditioning in this foregin locale. The first locale I stayed in was a small room with a private powder room in addition to a single window. The locale was cheap in addition to provided free dinner, however as a solo traveler, I needed to be frugal with the locales I decided to stay. This locale was miserable. The bed had a mosquito net in addition to there was no fan or A/C to supply any airflow, i did not sleep well that night, regardless of the fact that I had traveled to my destination for 2 full days. I was so uncomfortable in the sizzling room! Against my better judgement, I decided to open the front door to supply some airflow into the room throughout the evening. This helped tremendously, however my concerns for my safety still made it taxing to sleep.I decided to make sure that the next locale I stayed in had an air conditioner, or at least a great fan. I found this to be challenging throughout my travels, then many natives have never even heard of an AC, let alone had one in their homes. It is worthwhile to do your research ahead of time in addition to find the locale that have air conditioner, then even if they are a bit more luxurious, it is worth the extra money.
