One thing my parents don’t have that my friend and I do in our home is a heating and cooling system
Every year during the summer time I send my kids off to my parents house. They cherish spending time with their Grandparents but I suppose as my friend and I get older it’s become more of a challenge to get them out there, however when they were younger it was consistently fun for them to go see their Grandparents because they live in a rustic house. I don’t have any of the new conveniences that my friend and I have in our house. I want to send my kids out there because I suppose it gives them a reality check on how lucky they are to live the way that they do. Once I even noticed that when my kids got back they stopped complaining about little things like they did before they left. One thing my parents don’t have that my friend and I do in our home is a heating and cooling system. I have no central heating and a/c, and that’s where their condo has consistently been. I grew up without central a/c and it didn’t affect me at all, but my kids are pretty spoiled and I want them to see what it’s like to live this way, and right before my friend and I ship them off they consistently complain about not being able to sleep because you’re so sizzling without the a/c blasting on them. However, I suppose it’s a wonderful lesson for them and I like to deliver them a dose of reality.
