As our population grows there are many needs that need to met to accommodate all the extra people.
- Everything from the availability of high quality and high paying jobs, along with the housing needed to give them a place to live.
One area you may not consider when it comes to this expansion is the need for heating and cooling of all the buildings and homes. I think the reason I take this into consideration is the fact that I work for an HVAC business in town and we are so busy that I have to work overtime on many days. We have so many appointments for both commercial and residential installations that it is hard to keep up with demand. In some cases, our offices have to design custom systems to accommodate unusual spaces. Take for instance the large warehouse downtown that was recently renovated into loft style housing. This was a huge job that required the installation of individual units that could all be connected to the main unit, but set up as individual zones so that each tenant could be charged accordingly. This took some creative disigns because of the way the building was constructed. The huge, commercial, HVAC units on the roof will supply all of the air conditioning, while boilers in the basement will provide the heat. This is an economical way to give each unit quality heating and cooling while saving money for both the buildings owners and renters on fuel costs. I really like my job and, even though we are very busy, I am constantly learning new and innovative ways to provide quality climate control to different types of buildings.
