Hot and Hazy Days

Hot and Hazy Days

I don’t even think they mind that their utility bills are a bit higher during this time of year because they make up for it because they are three times as busy as they normally are

My family recently planned a trip down south to attend Mardi Gras. Because the celebration takes place during the Spring I never even thought about the air temperature. I assume that it would be mild because it was still early spring so I packed mainly long sleeve shirts and jeans thinking that I would be fine. We should have all checked the national weather report before we headed out for our trip. The area where the celebration takes place was experiencing some really weird weather. Normally they have daytime highs in the 70’s but this year temperatures were reaching up to 85 degrees. The days were hot and humid and you can see the waves of heat rising from the streets. My jeans and long sleeve shirts were just not going to cut it so I had to go shopping for some cooler clothing. As everyone knows most of the celebration takes place in the streets of the city and you are subjected to outdoor temperatures instead of nice indoor events. There are parades, bands, and plenty of cold beverages to help you celebrate but if you are overdressed you will surely be uncomfortable. Even with the cooler clothing I would duck into restaurants and bars for a break from the heat. These places are all equipped with quality HVAC systems to accommodate their guests and are used to having many visitors during this time of year. I don’t even think they mind that their utility bills are a bit higher during this time of year because they make up for it because they are three times as busy as they normally are. Celebrating at Mardi Gras it’s an awesome experience that everyone should have at least once in their lifetime.
