I have consistently hated hardwood floors. I grew up in a house with no carpeting whatsoever and my feet were consistently freezing cold, my Grandma, on the other hand, had nice lush carpeting and I enjoyed it. My feet were consistently so warm and comfortable when we stayed at Grandma’s house! That is why I swore I would only live in houses with carpeting when I grew up. That plan went well for decades. Then my fiance and I decided to move in order to accommodate our growing family, but we found a house we both enjoyed. It was spacious, near great schools, near our tasks, and the price was right. The only thing I didn’t like was that it had hardwood floors. I was whispering to my fiance but I feel the realtor heard us because she told us that this house has underfloor heating. That means that my feet would never be cold on cold afternoons. I like the concept but I was not sure underfloor heating would be enough so I asked for a demonstration. The realtor got the underfloor heating system turned on and I took off my shoes, at first I was not impressed. The floor felt the same to me… But as I waited I noticed that the floor warmed up and then the whole house started to warm up too. My feet had never felt so warm and comfortable. I am sold. We are going to buy the house. I never realized that a floor could entirely be the source of heat instead of a source of cold.
