Did you ever hear the term “shotgun anniversary”.
I still laugh when I assume about the mornings when a couple would end up in a “situation” as well as he vision of the Mom laying there with a shotgun in his hand in case the groom tried to escape. As insane as it sounds, this did happen back in the day. My anniversary was not that type of anniversary however it did happen easily swiftly. You see, I married my hubby just before he was set to derue for a year to the war zone. My associate and I had been planning a anniversary for a year out, however when he got orders, we decided not to wait any longer, and the only thing I had was a dress, as well as even that hadn’t been altered yet. My associate and I called around for a location to hold the reception only to find that they were all booked. It was mid Summer so I at least wanted a location with air conditioner. There were locations that rented out barns, tents, as well as picnic areas however I knew that they would be easily uncomfortable for both the anniversary celebration as well as the guests. In desperation, I started calling everything from universitys to churches trying to find somewhere that had an Heating as well as Air Conditioning system that worked. I finally found a fire hall one town over that not only had a room sizable enough to hold everyone however it was air conditioned. This was not my ideal setting for my reception however at that point we didn’t have time to be picky. My associate and I decorated it as best we could as well as the day turned out perfect. The main thing was, I was now married to my best friend, even I had to say goodbye to him for the next year.
