Older packaged heating/cooling unit struggles in the winter time

I live just far enough south that my associate and I never see snow or uneven temperatures below cold, but the winters are brief but the weather gets cold enough that a furnace is required.

The summers are drastically hot plus humid.

For the majority of the year, the weather is moderate, plus we’re able to open the windows; My husband plus I moved from up north to this location. My associate and I were gleeful to get away from excessively long, snowy plus brutal winters. My associate and I were accustomed to uneven temperatures well below zero plus feet of snow on the ground. The appliances in our current home had not been replaced in a long time. My associate and I needed to replace the refrigerator, stove plus water heater. There was no washer plus dryer. The packaged heating/cooling system was apparently old. The unit was sizable, drastically noisy plus the outer cupboard was rusting. My associate and I moved into the home during the fall. The first winter time set records for cold uneven temperatures; Our outdated furnace struggled to keep up with demand. The dwelling often felt cold plus the furnace occasionally froze up. My associate and I finally invested into a small electric furnace for the living room. The furnace resembled a real wood stove with a faux flame that created a bit of ambience. My associate and I were thankful for the warmth. That summer, the packaged unit worked surprisingly well in cooling mode, however it managed to keep the entire dwelling perfectly comfortable on the hottest afternoons plus most humid evenings! Because of so several other apartment expenses, my associate and I ended up keeping that packaged heating/cooling unit for three years.
