Spooky noises from the broken furnace

Probably if she had done this earlier, the unit would have served her a few more years before needing to be replaced

I visited my sister a few months back when winter was almost ending, but it was still cold, and we had to stay most of the time indoors. Around the same time, her furnace had given up on her because it was old and outdated. She had tried everything, including emergency HVAC services, but no effort seemed to help restore the unit to its former glory. On the advice of her trusted HVAC specialist, she opted to get a few portable heaters to use in the rooms that were most busy before she could invest in a suitable furnace later on. This meant we had to wear warm clothing inside the house since there was only so much that the portable heaters could do at the time. When I talked to my sister, it seemed she had ignored the furnace issue before. For a few months before I visited, she said she would hear spooky sounds coming from the furnace direction. However, it never crossed her mind that her furnace was responsible for this. Many times she assumed that someone was playing disturbing music late at night. The screeching and high-pitched noises were coming from her furnace. It was so clear that the furnace needed some lubrication back then to spare it the excess wear and tear that we could now see. Probably if she had done this earlier, the unit would have served her a few more years before needing to be replaced. Nonetheless, there was no significant loss since the unit had been in the house for more than two decades when my sister first bought her house. It was about time she got a new heating unit.
