My wife and I had spent months preparing for the birth of our adopted daughter; we assembled a lovely nursery that reflected both of our personalities, a room that would grow with her.

Because of the snow outside, we kept our heater running for most of the day. It was especially important at night, now that the baby was here. We were new parents, and we didn’t want her to freeze to death! Obviously, she had us up throughout the night when she cried, needed changing, or needed to be fed. After a particularly long night with the baby, my wife asked me if I noticed how cold our floors were. I noticed in the morning after getting out of bed, but since it was only once a day, I ignored it as a minor inconvenience. But now that we were up multiple times a night to look after the baby, we decided to make a change. We called an HVAC technician, who assessed our current heating system. He made some repairs to our ducts and vents, and eliminated some leaks that were making our heater run inefficiently. He also provided a quote for heated floors. I thought they would be too expensive for us, but the HVAC technician assured us that he could find an affordable solution. We decided to pull the trigger, and after a team of technicians installed the heated floors, we found ourselves much less hesitant to get out of bed in the morning; not only was our heating system working better, but our heated floors provided a new luxury that we would have never purchased before baby. We not only have our HVAC technician to thank, but our lovely baby girl.
